I think the ultimate point is that it wouldnt be a good idea to make a rule against flee kijlling as it could easily be prevented by the code… I'll do this as soon as I have time. I'm not gonna say I haven't made a temporary rule or two to prevent people from doing stuff before i fix it... but it's always with the ultimate intention of preventing it rather than punishing people for it. Just want to make sure people understand that... I think our imms have way too much good stuff to do without having to be the SS for things we could easily prevent with the code. Sorry if i got a bit defensive. I gotta go right now but I'll read over this thread again in a little bit. I think I may remove the save timer now that I think about it. The problem with validating data though is that it's kinda hard to do in C... there's no bounds checkign on arrays, etc., so if I screwed up and put a &x + 1 instead of &x + 2 it could write into someone's data and overwrite the valid flag. I'll try to think of a way around this. Meanwhile I gotta run, peace 8)

Neither soth, nor any character i have ever had, have ever been frozen, for any reason (i dont include when we were hacked and ppl were frozen, that was completely different) and never have i been punished with soth or any character i have, for cheating or "mistakingly using bugs". in fact, syn and ertai i am sure can attest to the fact that i'd ask them if something was illegal first. not all of us choose to seek out ways of getting around the rules, and you very well know i'm a fucking rules lawyer, and believe they apply to all…i take ppl who disregard the rules bc they wanna cheat, or bc they want an unfair advantage, very seriously. so next time, before you say "o, i've been frozen twice, but you ppl are worse", remember when you point a finger at someone, every other finger you have points right back at you. in this case, i dont even get one, since i've never been disciplined. But gimme a second to do the math on this.. assuming ac and hr/dr don't play affect, you would have a .9*.9*.9*.9*.8=52% chance of hitting... now lets assume I am foolish and make those 80% chances of hitting... .8^5= around 33% chance of hitting. Now calculate in ac for damage reduction and deal with hr/dr (I have no ideas about the actual calculation orders) but it seems that the difference between 33% and 40% (without swerve) is pretty damned good. feel free to correct me eRT

It was over night, I got those goldens when you were 110 and you were still 110 when you all of a sudden wer "better". NO it has nothing to do with how close in levels you are , only the changes to the pk system made you "better". It was over night, the night Syn changed the pk system.

Being able to pick any class whether its one of each or 4 mage classes is a pretty cool idea. However if the good spells/skills are removed and saved only for multiclasses of the same type of class, where you'd get the best stuff if you go all the same class type, I don't think it would result in a lot of good characters. If you went all 4 classes in 1 type, you'd be good at 1 thing. If you wanted a balanced character and chose 4 different types of classes, you'd end up being good at nothing.

Kraphin, I certainly agree with you on having some additional unique race/class equipment. It would be a nice little touch, and I can't imagine it would be that difficult or time consuming to do. It would be a great addition to the newbie area, giving a bit more variety than the standard little sword or dagger that everyone carries around.

There are two remort areas currently under construction with remort only eq and weapons available for various levels. As soon as they're released im sure the problems will just melt away, kinda like my underwear when Lunani walks into the room:D

Even I remember Inimical being toggled pk while churchless. However, Inimical, CoP did dominate PK at the time. Anyone who could PK worth a damn was in CoP, and many church fell under us. Many toggled PK off, also. But the PK system changed, numerous down times, etc, and now, PK is a frivilous thought on the backhand of someone wiping their ass. Changes to PK without changing the PK system: During reckonings, only recall rooms should be safe, all other safe should not. During reckonings, people in social need to be booted into the game. During reckonings, people should occasionally flee from fear of the purple mist more often, reguardless if they're sitting or standing. Levels 1-2 of poa should not be pk, lvl 3-4 npk, and level 5 cpk. This gives lower level people a little safety while souling/leveling, while anyone who wants to gain good xp has to work for it at higher levels. Make them fight for it. This isn't a teddy bear mud. Add more CPK to the game, but not much, maybe like 5 more rooms to each large area (200+ room areas). and 3 to 100+ room areas. that's all, and have a nice day.

well, the downtime is caused by our faulty startup script, which londo is helping me troubleshoot right now on a greater scale a lot of the bugs are caused by the horrible (in my opinion ) memory management system our codebase uses. Why in god's name they wrote it to be so obfuscated, i have no idea, but i'm reworking it right now. Eventually we're just going to write our own codebase (for the 2000s, not the early 90s), but since i don't even own a computer right now it's a bit early to think 'bout that.

For spectres, we could really use some changes.. aside from standard remort stuff and the ability to level up all over again, I haven't really recieved any perks for going from drow to specter. I think we should get something about visibility, a new skill similar to cloak of guile and shift which turns us into a ghostly form so nobody can tell who we are - mobs or players. Would also be cool to have natural abilities of pass door and fly since that's what spectres do, right? They drift around and go through walls…. I also think it would be fitting to have a frighten skill similar to intimidate but maybe with a very small chance of instant death (think heart attack) or creating a spell effect of panic which dramatically increases opponent's fightning ability. Also maybe a cool skill or spell of haunting - send a ghostly form flying around room to room beating stuff up until it's killed. On the drow and specter theme, it would also be nice to have a bonus of some sort related to being in the dark since that's where we feel at home, right? I really like the idea of dragons being able to cross the oceans, because dragon really conveys a sense of great physical power - if anyone can do it, they can. Also bite damage would be very fitting there. The breath attacks I'm hesitant on though, for dragons and dracons both since breath already can mess me up pretty bad when it hits. Same with music, there really isn't much recourse once you get hit, and a vulnerability to your weapon doesn't make fighting any easier when you're under very messy spell effects. Maybe for dragons a flap skill, to flap their wings, which would knock the opponent back and possibly make them miss a few hits, cause some damage, and have a chance of knocking them down. Also a defense skill of tail block, automatic, which causes the blow to fall to their tail like a shield instead of main body and reduces the amount of damage taken on that particular hit.

If anyone buys these "quest" items you'd better have a Silky Sack or stay the hell outta CPK or you'll lose it … and probably to the same one who sold it to you. They are <color color="red">NOT</color> your friends. Speaking from experience. :(

honestly, i think we need a businessman running the show…a few years ago, when forbes wanted to run, i thought it was a good idea...i think someone who is wildly sucessful in the board room could also do well in the oval office. business negotiations can be worse than foreign policy meetings...and it would be a way for someone who knows how to handle money and high level positions well, to get something done right for a change.

singles == one on one only, loser is transported to the beginning, winner is safe until reaching the beginning (allowing skulling of corpse and looting of wealth) noflee == neither party may flee boxing == neither person may use spells, scrolls, potions, or music. npk == loser actually dies and goes to void, loser gets a pk loss and winner gets a pk win. cpk == loser actually dies and leaves behind all equipment in corpse. winner only may loot the corpse and skull the corpse, also retaining a cpk win. loser gains a cpk loss. ironman == best of 3. When person dies, they are fully regen'ed naked and must wear eq. other person does not get regen'ed. person who gets 3 wins wins the iron man match.

That would probably be a good idea. :) However, the creative juices of everyone shouldn't stop. This just allows them to be fleshed out and more or less ironed out before put to code.

I still want a more original name than the one already placed. I tend to view seraphs as humans with wings, not elves, so that really doesn't fit.
