Ok, I was sitebanned pretty quickly, so I don't have much (he had control of ertai for most of the time), but thanks to the help of some people including someone from MM I have figured out a few things.
I know the person is not from Omaha, Jazelle. I do know the general location of the person, but I'm not going to give that out here.
I also know that while MM will be considerate to us, they cannot give out any information or dole out any punishment on MM itself according to policy. However, Vassago (out of courtesy) has been warned of the person and their capabilities.
If people would like to take legal action, I'm sure that the owners of the game would need to be involved, so until I hear from Syn lets keep our lawyers off the phone.
Syn has backup copies of the game and so no problems should arrise in restoring the game, however, any work I or other immortals have done in the last few days will be lost.
Londo, if I can get you the IP is there any chance your server can firewall that address? Also, I don't know how to e-mail you offhand (I will check your profile after this post) but <email email="n2brown@unix.cc.wmich.edu">n2brown@unix.cc.wmich.edu</email> is my e-mail for future reference.
Sorry to everyone about this inconvenience and I hope, Londo, that you don't suffer any reprocussions either with your school or work because of what went on tonight.

It's the info they gave out that was rather telling there. As it is it's Londo's school that can go after them legally and that is backed by the feds there.
As for Knightotri when I knew him he would not of done such a thing. I'm guessing he was hacked just the same. If the guys on MM know who it is then legally they need to tell those who wish to press charges. I'm guessing that again would be Lando's school.
I hate to say this but something needs to be done so this can't happen again. There needs to be some kind of security system set up so it will be easy to trace problems.
I guess for many of us it's just the last straw and we're tried of having to sit by and watch crap happen. I may no like some of the players but I will support them to have access to the game and enjoy it.
Personally I think Syn and Londo and whoever else should go after their asses and stop this bull.
Ertai I never thought it was you doing it all. I know you to be a good person who is just plain fun. I feel you got the worse of this all since it was your account they used.
As I understand there is a back up from the 19th that is only a few days off so not too much lost there. Thanks for being so quick to reply and post. I will gladly do what ever I can to help you out and keep the game up and going. Feel free to ask you too Syn.

Ah I miss read your post. I though you said they knew who it was. Got you. So been able to get a hold of Syn and possible get the game back up or is it going to be several days while everything is reinstalled?

Well this is a wonderful way to start the morning. -.- All I know is I got a text message from Rythen last night saying the game was hackeed -.- and spent the next hour tring to explain to my parents why I kept attempting to get online. Its too bad we couldn't find this guy and pull a little old fashioned vigilante justice on whoever it is… I'd like to see 'em crucified... That'd get the message across.

I have the entire log of the incident from where it started which will probably only go to Syn and Ertai unless they want it made public. Unfortunately there wasn't much I could do as I immediately contacted Ertai and he got sitebanned and I was frozen. However they never disconnected me so I was around for the entire thing. I'm sorry for all the inconveniences caused by this and we'll do our best to get everything back up to speed. We appreciate all you guys do as I saw some of you defending the game over gossip and says when you all got transferred. Thank you all and I apologize again for the trouble.

I'm sorry that you all had to go through that. I read the log Inimical posted. I'm pretty pissed about the whole thing, but I'm sure that doesn't compare to you guys who were actually there. I hope the come is restored in a timely manner, and not too much is lost.

with our ip logs we can hopefully track this person down
i have classes until evening today but then i'll look at it
we still need to assess how much damage was caused. Also i am
going to implement a thing which will make all players change their passes after they login before they are allowed to play
however you guys have to realise there is no complete security in the internet world. i'm sorry to put it in these words but i'm the only coder even present at the moment, extremely overworked and i have full-time classes, a job and a social life. i'm trying to do the best i can with what little time i have to devote to this, all the while trying to recruiting help from people i know to be trustable (like Ertai), so please be patient while i figure this out
most likely we'll have it sorted out within the next couple of days, until then i would advise you all to be patient and not to worry. Hopefully through this dudes IP we can get his services denied.. i havnt looked closely but it appears to be a univ of michigan address.

Syn I understand I was only thinking on your side having it so you can track down people better and people do think twice when they have to give out their info. I know the program for the game does have some security settings you could toggle. It's just a frustration point that is hard to come up with an answer.
No one expects you to be on 24/7 that is just plain silly we all have a RL and you deserve to have one too. We all trust Ertai and mainly feel sorry that he had to be their focus point. Just remember we do support you and will help out in anyway we can so don't hestate to ask us for help.
