Seems like a good many of people's ideas are scoffed at for being "too MMish" or "seems alot like MG". First of all, perhaps they (myself included) have never been there. Secondly, all ideas should be met with an open mind unless they are just too far into the left field to be feasible.

Thirdly, why must everything that remotely reminds you of MG or MM have to be shot down or scowled at? Are you people so insecure about this game to have to base all ideas that are made against those muds? Hmmm? Why? Did it ever occur to you that maybe… just maybe... the coders for sentience with the help of everyone else could make even better implementations of what you look down upon. Perhaps instead of overly concerning yourself with what was done on another mud and how, try thinking of ways you'd do them or have them done, independant of other muds. I'm sick and tired of the obstinate prejudices against ideas. Not liking something because of how it was done elsewhere is a lame excuse, as is not liking it BECAUSE some other place you don't like has done it.

    Answers would be appreciated. :brood:

You mentioned the other game in my presense?!?

      An eternal pox on you!

People here don't want to be constantly accused of stealing from the other game, even though that the other game is also taken from other games, and was at one time a ROM game itself, despite what the owner might have said. Having an original game is impossible. All the ideas have already been used somewhere else. All we can do is to improve upon these ideas already out there and make them a seamless part of this game.

actually, mg 3.2 was badass. no, dont wanna steal ideas…but ith has a good point, that theres nothing new under the sun. since this is the first thing i've seen logging in today, i'd wanna see what idea is "mm'ish" unless its obvious elsewhere, which i'll discover in a few moments.

Well MM stold their ideas from other muds so why worry. Most of the ideas I come up with are from SMAUG muds in Canada. Only a very vew are from MM and most from when it was Moongate.

Basically to ignor and idea because another mud had it is rather pointless. If it's a good idea and will help the players might as well go for it. There are ways to restlye stuff and make it personal to Sentience.

Exactly my point. :\ Why let good ideas, regardless of who has done them before, go to waste? Sure, if you just don't LIKE the idea itself, that's one time. Me, if I know of a mud I sorta (or just plain) don't like with a nice idea, I'm more proned to want to TAKE the idea and improve upon it, making it far better than what the source mud ever did. If I think of an idea that just happens to be used by another mud, I have no qualms about using it, especially if I have the opportunity to make it better than theirs.

            :)
