    Hey guys,

Anyone really good with ASCII art? 8)

I think we should spice up MOTD and greeting a bit. I mean,

it is the first thing players see when they sign in.

Anyone up for kicking around ideas? I have NO artistic

creativity whatsoever… but I can judge!!

This isnt fixed-width though so we might have to put screenshots.

    Any ideas? 8)

    S.

Well, there are some issues with using ASCII art. The main thing that I've encountered when I've done my many of ascii arts is that some people use fonts that make it not line up as it should OR it just looks funky. When I do in one font to make it look superb would look off or wrong or misaligned in multiple places changing to a different, yet similiar font.

All that being said… if you designate a particular font, like I use FixedSys for my mushclient font, and state that it's best viewed in that font, then people that can't see it right will either switch to see what the hub-bub was all about or just ignore it.

I volunteer myself. I can use my ASCII generator using a normal picture image, which I've used on several of my renderings.

And actually, the first thing anyone sees is the WELCOME greeting that asks for your name. :P I went to a mud ages and ages ago that had a group of them and picked a random one each connection.

Nib, you did an awesome job with the greeting.

Want to fix up the motd and imotd as well? Not that its horrible or anything, but

that good old yellow and purple and blue theme has been around for ages. 8)

Well, I could probably create TEMPLATES for putting messages up, but in the overall scheme of things… MOTD are for messages.
