christians are hypocrites… plain and simple. Calling people that worship "pagan" beliefs satanic yet encouraging other christians to celebrate pagan rituals at the same time. Can you guess which two pagan holidays I'm refering to? One in particular that should be bleedingly obvious.

Now, the big question is…...... WHO would even WANT to go there???? Surely the reputation for this policy is common knowledge around there....

          Two?

          Candlemas is pagan in origin

          Christmas is pagan in origin

          Easter is pagan in origin

          Halloween is pagan in origin

Christianity took the ideas of paganism of the day and converted it into a Christian theme so that people would be more open to its ways. There are quite a few things that are pagan in origin that the Christian church uses, especially the Catholic and Pentecostal sects.

Jesus… My school looks like PARADISE compared to that. And what's worse is that it's in LYNCHBURG, which is a pretty cool city.

Not sure if Halloween is part of the "Christian" holiday bunch. It's mostly consisted of Celtic and Druidic origins I believe.

Christmas is nothing BUT pagan and is vaguely directed at the christian faith. That's why the puritans BANNED the celebration of christmas. ;) The whole reason for its existance was because the Pope in the 4th century (forget his name) declared December 25th a "christian" holiday at the time of several pagan holidays in attempts to convert more pagans over. :) But, you probably knew that already.

              Easter is just as bad.

waits for the diehard christian jihad fanatics to flame him

You are laying down blanket, biased statements about a group of people while pointing fingers at them and yelling hypocrisy and ignorance. Pardon me while I laugh my ass off.

That's not to say that I don't find that link hilarious. I really get a kick out of their scale of punishment placing "spending the night with a person of the opposite sex" and "possession or consumption of alchohol" as more severe than racial/sexual harrassment, threat to do bodily harm and vandalism.

Everyone is biased in what they do or say. Didn't TRY to phrase it that way. Sorry if I did. o.O I was trying to point out facts I've noticed. Someone that doesn't practice what they preach is a hypocrite, right? Someone that practices what they preach against is also a hypocrite.

Blanket, fine, ok… Would you like it if I qualified christians to being the diehard stubborn christians? I'll admit there are christians that have enough brains to take all their religious texts and lore that have been translated, retranslated, editted and filtered through goverments and languages with a grain of salt. However, those "diehard" christians probably wouldn't consider you much of a christian, anyways.

                      shrugs

Anyways, I find the link disturbing as well as hilarious. :\ Poor saps that actually go there... we must pity them. TWITCH

The Catholic church adopted Sahmain as their day to observe the day of dead. This was not enough, though, to draw in people, so they made the next day All Saints Day, to add a bit more to their showiness.

Slight point of clarification. Christmas, Easter, All Hallows Eve(Halloween) all (in pure form) are not taken from pagan celebrations. The dates of them were chosen to coincide with pagan celebrations and in some cases resemble the pagan ceremonies to protect those that celebrated them from being persecuted for their beliefs.

Having said that they have been commercialized and paganized over the centuries. Some of the most grievous cases being by the church itself. But the celebrations themselves are not pagan.

Get a hold of a Bishop's book or higher and say that. ;) Their rituals from every day things to specific holy days mimic that of pagan communities.

Personally as a member of the Old Church of England I have no problems being a christian and enjoying Easter, Christmas and Halloween. Yes, they at one time were a cover up for the pagan pratices and set up to spice up christianity, but it's been like over 500 years and now it's all part of the system.

I think all religions have good points and bad ones since they are creatures of their people and the times. What was truth centuries ago is treated totally different now. Does that discounts the belief? No, not if you keep true to the base truths. Seek not to harm others, do good in the world and know your only human and can't be perfect. After that the rest is just food coloring.

As long as your a good caring person who stands up for the rights of others it does not matter what you believe. It's all right.

Hey! I didn't know anyone would understand it if I used Anglican Ep. Cool! my only choice here is go to Canada or back to Omaha to find a high church. It's a bummer I miss the day of the dead thing. It was sooo much fun and love the frankensence. Don't like the American church here it's such a downer and Anglicans are such great party crew. Pass over the wine.
