Created - the mechanic\organic lifeform I suggested
If you're going to have some of that stuff, why not have Insectoid as well? Or perhaps .. crustacean!@! Who wants to be a crazy lobster monster?!

What about something aquatic or amphibious? An area that is mostly underwater would be perfect for such a race, and give more reason to have the underwater breathing spell used more (and give that quest item some real purpose?) Perhaps give them no sea lag when they are in the ocean, since, it's their NATURAL habitat. To counter that, make movement on land highly exhaustive unless they are flying.

I don't think so jazelle.
This is the way I see t, take it or leave it I really care not.
I like the gryphon idea for bird.
I could see a rodent race but don't really care as much as it would probably be aligned more towards evil and we're looking for neutral.
Out of those types, you ccould have a natural race, such as a treant or a dryad, which would have bonuses that could be hammered out later, and it would stay within the conceivable parameters of neutral. Also you could have as created a golem/doppelganger type race, created by the ancient druids of old to maintain the balance of good and evil in the world. I disagree with werebear as jazelle pointed out, it is a very common lycan. If you want to have a lycan make someone a werepanther or for somthing even more exotic, a were rhino?
Just some ideas for you people to flame.

With natural steal, hunt, shift(yness), deception, haggle, pass door, bash, bar, …... you crazy?

Immune to litigation, haggle, natural AC with paper work used for court cases.

If you want some lycan type races, Lukus is the man to talk to. He knows all sorts of them. From your werewolves to your werecats to your werebears, and then to your Were-crocs, weresharks, and were-virgins. Okay I lied about were-virgins.

Maybe Jaz remembers this, I'm pretty sure she was there too. I remember testing a feline race on the test port quite some time ago, although I don't really remember what their racial abilities were. Some sort of claw attack….shrug I forget. So there's probably a rogue bit of feline code lurking somewhere, waiting to appease the race hungry folk :wink:

Uh… did I miss something? I don't see a post by Jazelle in response to my post, talking about werebears.
And Inimical, the feline race you remember was Liger. The abilities I remember were roar and leap, though there may have been others.

The coolest were-animal I have ever heard about was a were-leopard. And I think if we're going to be putting in new Neutral races it should only be one or two, not a lot. Or at least not all at once. That's too much to balance out when we're already constantly complaining about the balancing of everything.
Personally I think the two that should be put in are Were-creature, assuming it can be balanced, and a mechanical/cyborg race, as those would be unique to the already implimented races.

Mechanical/Cyborg races have to be justified by the level of technology needed to produce such a thing to be present in the game. It doesn't make sense for such a thing to exist if the components that are required to make it haven't even been invented yet. :P

Well I was told once that the setting of Sentience was fantasy, not medieval. So technically, anything could exist.

This is fantasy, yes… not cyber-punk. :P Besides... where are all the mechanical devices that would accompany cyborgs? :P I want my Sentience TV!
Err... the theme of sentience just doesn't seem to lend itself very well to have a mechanical/cyborg race, unless it were created by gnomes, but they are notorious for creating disasterous inventions. ;)

We have a million things in this game that don't fit well with RP, how worse could one more be? And as for the mechanical/cyborg race, you are being too closed minded about it. A mechanical device does not have to be some titanium alloy man. Maybe the race could be something along the lines of "An experimental race where surgeons molded metal to their body and sewed it under their skin, increasing their armor resistance, but dramatically lowering their dexterity and range of motion". There are many things you can do that aren't "high-tech" or "after it's time".

I'll admit it. I was thinking you all meant some sort of robot when talking about a created race. I hafta say that I wouldn't support that idea because the theme of sentience (although there are problems with it) just based on the zones seem to be similar to the times set up by books such as LotR.
However, if it was something similar to Wolverine from X-men I think there is potential there. Although, that feels more like a miniquest that only certain races could do.
I like the idea of the griffon and feline races best, but keep discussing. It feels like we're getting close to a general consensus
Oh, and we would only imp 1 race at a time for the balance issues someone mentioned earlier (Belexus, I think)
